Myron Empire (1357 - NA)
The politically aligned regions of the Myron dynasty.
Myron declares the start of the Myron Empire.
Myron subjugates the last hold out lords of northern Ertund through conquest and diplomacy. Incorporating the region into the Myron Empire.
Myron II takes command of the Myron Empire without conflict.
Southern Midland lords submit themselves to Myron II's rule.
Myron II demands 5,000 men and 6 pounds of gold from the lords of each region within the Myron Empire. A combination with one man worth 2 ounces of gold is also permitted.
The Myron Empire lords respond to Myron II's wealth and manpower demands: the Midlands lords send 5,000 men and 6 pounds of gold. The South Wood lords send 2,000 men and 375 pounds of gold. The Callouse Marshes lords send 5,000 men and 6 pounds of gold. The Penbrooke lords send 4,500 men and 100 pounds of gold (37.5 extra). The South Wood River Basin send 2,000 men and 100 pounds of gold (275 short). The Nazreth Valley sends 1000 men and 500 pounds of gold. Imperial Ertund lords deliver 8,000 men, no gold. Lords int he Tortund Valley send an additional 300 pounds of gold in support (tribute). 19,500 men and 1381 pounds of gold is collected in total. The payment nearly bankrupts many lords of gold and manpower, but in the face of Myron II's idle army of nearly 20,000 Drap and Northmen, there was little choice in the matter.
To alleviate worries that more huge tribute payments would be due, Myron II institutes a census system. Imperial census workers travel the empire taking count of manpower and wealth in each lord's dominion. The system is horribly corrupted, with lords bribing census workers to under report values. With the change of every season, Myron II collects a 'reasonable' tribute of men and gold based on the census reports. The system proves to be very inefficient.
Durn is killed during the fighting between Myron II's imperial army and the Penbrooke Keeper General's army.
Vasslow's father survives the Myron Empire-Penbrooke conflict, but flees Penbrooke to North Ertund.
Myron II spends much of the year travelling the Tortund Valley meeting with Northmen lords. Much financial, manpower, and other resourceful support is acquired from the Tortund Valley, making friendly relations a top priority for the Myron Empire.
Nazreth tribes spread influence through the Enhold Mountain valleys.
The majority of remaining Greyfield lords formally submit to the Myron Empire at Greyfield Castle.
The Ertund Kingdom falls to the Myron Empire. Myron III arranges a peace with the far southern Ertund people and plans to move against North Ertund.
Myron III takes rule of the Myron Empire at Drenock Tower.
Midlands rebels begin a systematic push against Myron Imperial forces across the region.
Myron III overhauls the census system established by his father 18 years prior. Paid officials with the Census Agent title are designated to specific areas while officials with the Census Overseer title are put in charge of regions consisting of many areas each. The Empire is designated into regions consisting of the Midlands, Callouse Marshes, West Penbrooke, East Penbrooke, South Wood, South Wood River Basin, Trahbeck, Imperial Ertund, North Ertund, Ertund, and Greyfield. The Nazreth Valley is exempt from the census. The areas between the South Wood River Basin and Trahbeck are labeled the Imperial Seat, with Myron III acting as the region Census Overseer.
Myron III issues a special tribute demand. 5,000 men and 10 pounds of gold from each new Census Region, no exceptions.
Rey is murdered in East Penbrooke- during the ensuing chaos warlords from the Dolle Plateau capture most of East Penbrooke.
Ertund, backed by South Ertund troops, drive the Imperial Garrison out of most of the Ertund Kingdom region.
Lord Almer, angry with King Rupert for being complacent and accusing him of making peace with Hollwick and the Myron Empire only because his son is on the other side, leads a force against King Rupert deep in the Vesop Woods.
The Trefel army is recalled from the South Wood. Myron III makes a deal with Haspen II's son Leopuld resulting in Leopuld giving up any claims on the Trefel King title, the dissolution of the Trefel Kingdom, the exile of all Trefel lords loyal to Haspen II or his exiled son, Haspen III who fled to Merrod, and Leopuld taking the title Duke of Trefel as a semi-independent region of the Myron Empire.
Myron III appoints Cyfurrel as Overseer of Trefel to keep tabs on Leopuld and act as a limited Census Overseer. Leopuld also agrees to pay 2.5 tons of gold to the Myron Empire and send 10,000 soldiers for imperial service by the end of the year.
Myron III takes Leopuld's daughter, Lyssa as wife and his grandson Damien II as ward to seal the peace deal between the Myron Empire and Trefel Duchy.
Frundhul travels to Greyfield and pronounces Myron IV emperor but then sends him off through Trefel to the Imperial Seat. The boy is sickly; Frundhul tries to hide the fact while he consolidates the empire's power in Myron IV's name.
Mark travels to Trefel as courtier and ambassador. His father, King Jauford, wants to establish immediate diplomatic connections with Trefel in the case that the transition to Myron IV/Frundhul's rule goes awry.
Frundhul displaces Cyfurrel with Rey II as overseer of Trefel and assigns Drenundson as commander in the East, to handle the affairs of the empire east of the Nazreth Valley. Frundhul hopes the shared responsibilities of watching over the empire will not provoke others to think he is trying to steal Myron IV's rule.
Anti Rey II and Myron Empire riots break out across Trefel following Lanelle's death.
East Penbrooke falls to insurgents.
Frundhul travels to the Imperial Seat to try and recover control of the Myron Empire and stabilize the situation following his nephew's death.
Fearing a lack of stern authority would signal the end of the Empire and hoping to halt and subversive element before it can come to fruition, Frundhul condemns Leopuld and sends him to the Callouse Marshes.
Cyfurrel the Younger, now also using the name Myron Cyfurrel, arrives at the Imperial Seat and challenges Frundhul for the Empire, citing his mother's more direct link to Myron II and Myron III. No formal 'rules of inheritance' had been established in the empire. The empires most base origins, the Tortund Valley, doesn't even use inheritance laws. Some parts of the eastern Drap Expanse do trace inheritance through daughters, though, expanding on Cyfurrel the Younger's legitimacy.
Central Ertund is lost completely to rebel forces.
Cyfurrel claims the Myron Empire.
A great string of defensive fortifications and walls are built along the southern Enhold River as defense against the Myron Empire. Cyfurrel takes his army into Trahbeck and tries again what started with Myron II: an attempt to take Enhold from Trahbeck.
Most of the Kern lords follow Merklew's lead and agree on submission to the Cyfurrel threat.
The Flood Plains submit to Cyfurrel.
