Army VIII (1427-1444,17)
Father: N/A Mother: N/A
Raised by Cyfurrel in 1427. Professional soldiers with land experience. Originally attached to Dornal's fleet as a marine force.
Cyfurrel raises Army VIII and travels with it to Port of Errfulfel. He transfers command of the force to Dornal and personally sees to the launch of Dornal's fleet. Dornal's fleet is the largest ever to date with 25 Dollean warships, 3,000 sailors, and 5,000 men of Army VIII.
Dornal's Fleet, carrying Army VIII, invades the Cork Islands. He scatters the pirate residents and fisherman alike and names the span of islands after his deceased son.
Dornal's Fleet sieges Morrn Hold. Two pirate ships escape, 7 are scuttled. The pirates hold out behind fortifications and caves for a month before surrendering to Dornal and Army VIII. Around 100 pirates die during the siege. 1050 pirates are taken captive, 50 are hung on Morrn Hold.
Dornal retires from command of Dornal's Fleet. He passes command of the fleet and Army VIII to his 2nd, Merron of Delco.
Merron sails Dornal's Fleet and Army VIII to Port of Errfulfel.
Cyfurrel II divides his force of 6,000 Lowlands riders into 6 attachments of 1,000. Armies IV, VI, VIII, IX, and X each absorb one attachment of the riders. Jormal's 500 mercenaries merge with the final attachment of riders.
Dornal's Fleet takes on Army X in the Flood Plains and travels to Ortund. The journey is one of the largest concentrations of sea-borne troops in history, consisting of around 3,000 sailors, 5,000 Army VIII footmen with an additional 1,000 riders, and 5,000 footmen plus 1,000 riders in Army X lead by Cyfurrel II.
Dornal's Fleet, commanded by Merron, ferries Army VIII, Hermoth's Army IV, Cyfurrel II with Army X and Jormal's force to Cormick Island from Ortund.
Dornal's Fleet lands Hermoth's Army IV on the south coast of South Ertund at Krandorson Landing and then continues into the Dranmeck Sea where it deposits Merron with Army VIII on the west coast of South Ertund near Merronfall.
Merron is killed at Merronfall after Army VIII encounters strong, stiff resistance from South Ertund militias.
Army VIII, embattled near Merronfall, self appoints Hander Fermothson, as commander.
Hander pulls Army VIII away from Merronfall to the city of Dempler. He razes the city and fortifies his battered force in the ruins.
Hermoth's Army IV and Hander's Army VIII fortify the Ertund-South Ertund border.
Army VIII, lead by Hander Fermothson, campaigns into the Ertund River Basin, conquering lands in the wake of destruction left by Jormal's raiding.
Hander continues Army VIII's invasion of the Ertund River Basin, traveling upriver nearly reaching Imperial Ertund.
Army IX, lead by Galvin, thrusts into Ertund heading south east as Army VIII and Hander push east from the Erien.
Troops belonging to lords in Imperial Ertund support Army VIII and Army IX by garrisoning abandoned settlements and forts in their wake.
Army VIII engages a formal army of 15,000 in central Ertund. Hander Fermothson takes heavy losses but manages a slight victory.
Army IX encounters and engages a relief army headed to destroy Hander's battered Army VIII. Nearly 8,000 enemy are killed with 2,000 more captured. Galvin takes only 1,500 losses.
Hander retreats Army VIII out of Ertund and into Imperial Ertund.
Cyfurrel II disbands the auxiliary riders attached to Armies IV,VI,VIII,IX, and X. Jormal's riders, also disbanded, swear allegiance to Jormal in face of the lucrative looting he is conducting in the Ertund River Basin.
Cyfurrel II retires the battered Army VIII. Many of the soldiers elect to join ranks with Army IX, remaining under Hander Fermothson's command.
