Almer's forces are stretched thin, combating Rupert's raids to the east and other Greyfield lords to the west- who are in turn being pushed east by Donwick lords and Trefel raids. Almer also faces the year old threat of the army camped in the mountain valley to the north.
King Rupert leaves a small force in the south Vesop Woods to feign defense and leads the bulk of his soldiers towards the Greyfield Casot School in an attempt to link up with supply lines from Donwick.

The main roads are well engineered and wide. Sturdy, massive bridges are built spanning the Trefel River at Greyfield and the Casot River at Champion's Hold and the north South Wood River at Basin's Spout. Many smaller offshoot roads extend from the main road system.
